Sennelier Pastel "à l'écu" are extra-soft artists' pastels with a high pigment concentration and a smooth consistency that produces intense, vibrant colours. The pastels are made with high-quality pigments and a natural transparent binder, with a formulation that allows the colour and luminosity of the pigments to shine through.

The soft consistency makes the pastels easy to blend, soften and work in multiple layers. Colour can be applied directly with the pastel and then worked and blended, for example with the fingers, to create soft transitions and a variety of effects.

The pastels are ideal for use on pastel paper, coloured paper, card or other surfaces with a lightly textured finish that can hold the pigment. When working in multiple layers, a fixative for soft pastels can be used between layers.

The pastels are made without compressing the pastel mixture and are left to dry naturally in the air. Here they come in a practical 1/2 format, with six carefully selected colours that work beautifully together.

Sennelier was founded in Paris in 1887 by Gustave Sennelier and has a long tradition of developing artists' materials with a strong focus on pigments and colour.
