Gessos & Primers
Here you will find the products needed to prepare the surface for your painting. Priming the substrate, often the canvas or panel, is done partly to get a smooth, reasonably absorbent surface that is suitable for painting and also to protect the substrate from the paint or ensure that it does not bleed through.
Gesso, often used as a primer, is a mixture of chalk, plaster and pigment in a binder. The most common is white pigment, but we also have other colours, such as black or transparent gesso. To create an inspiring and unique surface to paint on, you can also make your own colour mixtures by adding a pigment. It can be so much more fun to create on a coloured surface!
