Drawing Charcoal
This category includes charcoal and charcoal pencils that produce a very black or grey result. Drawing charcoal is made from wood that has been dry distilled. Because of its properties, it is important to use the right paper when painting with charcoal, preferably a paper with a coarse grain, i.e. a rough surface. It is also important that you also fix the drawing using a fixative. You spray this over the work and then let it dry, so that it doesn't risk being coloured or changed by touch, for example.
