We have both the markers and the tricks you need to know.

Do you usually fill in the text on your tires? Is this perhaps the first time you are going to tidy up the sides of your tires? Painting tires is especially popular during spring and whether you have been doing it for ages or not, we have the pens for you. Drive in style when you are out and about. Our customer base includes truck drivers, fans of Scania and Volvo as well as other car enthusiasts. Painted text on tires is mandatory when it comes to car styling! See below where we have started painting our own car’s winter tires. Further down you will find all the information you need!

The best markers to paint tires with

We strongly recommend the Uni Paint Marker PX-30 (see link below) - an oil-based industrial pen which is considered by many to be the best tire pen on the market. It is permanent and has an opaque, white color that adheres well to tires and rubber. The cape is 8 mm wide and obliquely cut. It is also available with a finer tip which is called PX-20, PX-21 and PX-201respectively - but there are usually no reason to buy something thinner. As a tire paint pen, it is usually the PX-30 that counts!

How to do it

The tip of the Uni Paint Marker is not coloured when you first buy it. You must therefore pump forward the color during the first use. Start off by shaking the pen thoroughly for about ten seconds. Then take a tissue paper and push the tip downwards against the paper. This will open the tip for the ink to come through. Pump slightly with the tip against the paper and you will start seeing a light flow of paint. Have some patience, eventually it will be fully coloured.

The pen works just as well whether you have tires with raised or profiled text. Just fill in the text with ink and let it dry. If you think it looks too faint you can repeat after a few minutes when the paint has dried. You are ready to roll!

How long does the colour stick?

The paint markers that we sell are solid and made for industrial use and marking. The formula is oil-based for the absolute best adhesion and durability when used on rubber material. The pens are considered by many to be the best of their kind. With that said, you will eventually need to improve the colour. Although the ink of the marker leaves a permanent result, it will wear off over time - this is inevitable if you intend to use the car for something else than just a trophy stuck in the garage. Even if the colouring does not disappear completely, a faded colour is not as attractive. In other words, make sure to add more colour every now and then. You will know when it is time. It can be convenient to have a couple of extra markers at home.

Long lasting markers

It is hard to say how many markers you will need to use. Of course, it depends on the amount of colour you use and how much text you want to fill in. Our advice is to buy a handful of pens right away as you will want to improve the colour a few times. Any unused pens can easily be stored away until next season. Uncapped pens are still good after several years. An opened (and pumped) marker will last until next season if you make sure to put the cap back on tightly.

Tire pens in different colours

Indeed, there are also Uni Paint Markers available in red, blue, yellow and green. One catch, however, is that the widest pen is not made in any of these colors so you will have to choose a slimmer one.
